🏔️ Blanca Peak. 14,350'. 5,500' of ascent. 15.5 miles round trip.
Friday, I stood on my first summit since releasing Reflective Leadership — and it felt like the book came full circle.
I climbed with my friend and CFO, Tim Middlebrook, and somewhere between the switchbacks and the scramble, our conversation turned to leadership — the peaks and the valleys of it. Awe, beauty, exhaustion, and inspiration.
Then, I came off the mountain with some weekend recovery starting Monday, straight into coaching sessions with three leaders navigating their own ascents: a CEO, a COO, and a VP of Construction — each doing their own version of soul work, self-leadership, team leadership, and strategy work.
That's the parallel this book is built on. A decade plus of coaching conversations, like the ones I had yesterday, mapped against years of climbing 14ers. Every summit taught me the same thing every coaching relationship has: you don't skip the elevation gain.
Reflective Leadership will inspire, encourage, and guide you — with a practical model in every chapter — toward your own summit.
Tim and I trekked together, walking more than 45K steps, lots of life and leadership on those miles together. I'm grateful!
